OMG...OMG...I finally have it! The game I went through 2 PS3s for, the game I struggled to get my hands on through years of begging, bartering, crawling through abject poverty to get to...finally...*tears*... finally! *Inserts game disc*

< Gran Turismo Must perform an update. You cannot play the game without performing the update.>

Umm...what?

I can't? But...I...

<1/50 downloads in progress, 1MB/5,000MB completed>

*Sigh*...well...I waited 5 years. What's a few more...hours... uuuugh

...yup. This is basically my life every time I sit down to play GT5.

"Finally, I have half an hour to play GT5! Now, just turn on the game, grab something to drink, settle in to..."

"Oh well... at least next time it will be up to date!"

(This repeats when I come back to it every month)

Welcome to the wonderful world of modern gaming! If you don't buy the game when new and play it regularly, a shitload of updates awaits!

Plus you've missed out on some DLC. Gonna have to pay for that if you want Spa and a few extra cars.

Modern gaming is fun!

Yup, that is GT5 for you. I got it about a month or so after it came out. I played it for like 3 months until I beat all of the A-spec races. Now it is just the enduro's to race and I only did the Miata one because it was short. When I would get set to run a few laps and go and maybe kill an hour by buy some ridiculous car and trying to get as far below 1 minute laps on Tsukuba, I would have an update waiting for me. . . I didn't bring my PS3 with me when I moved but I think it will be a while before I shell out for GT6. I was kind of let down by GT5 and the ridiculous concept of "premium" cars.

Top tip: a good way to gain quick credits is to do the online chalenges. Even a low placing rank gets a decent amount and it goes up consecutive days you log in. plus the exp. gets multiplied to so you can get cars unlocked faster.

Finally! Finally!!! Come to dadd...

<8 GB install recommended. The game will play better if you do it. You've waited so long...you want the best experience possible, and with a 500GB PS3, you've got more than enough room. Couldn't hurt, could it?>

Umm...well...I...I guess...I...I mean...*click*

The game is basically unplayable if you don't do the install.

It gives you time to think about which precise year, market, and special edition Miata to get first.

Fiat Panda is the only correct Starter Car for any Gran Turismo career. It's a bitch trying to get enough money to buy a decent car afterwards.

I have been seriously toying with the idea of taking a Panda 4x4 Mk.I, stuffing in an Uno Turbo engine with some modifications, along with some flared wheel arches, fatter tyres and double round headlights. See where I'm going yet? :D A bloody 3/4 sized Lancia Delta Integrale!
